The Ohio Medal – My 50 State Medal Pursuit

My Ohio medal is from a competition I completely forgot I entered. It is from D.R.A.F.T. Fest 2023 by the Dayton Regional Amateur Fermentation Technologists. The reason I forgot is that I forget just about everything nowadays unless I write it down. I forgot to note this competition in my spreadsheet to track everything.

Luckily, organizers and participants are constantly updating the Competitive Homebrewers Facebook group page. When I saw the results for D.R.A.F.T. fest were posted, I suddenly remembered I had sent in some entries.

I sent my Heavy Scottish, Black IPA, and first-ever Hard Cider to this competition. With this being my first-ever cider, I wasn’t expecting much success, but it was a pleasant surprise the score was nearly as low as I thought it might be.

My Scottish Heavy and Black IPA had done very well for me thus far this year, and this competition was no exception. My Black IPA had won a silver medal, and my Scottish Heavy won a silver.

Coincidentally, this competition was the same day as the North Georgia Homebrew Competition, which I also performed very well at, making this an extremely good day!

Cheers!
